In line with the New South Wales Department of School
Education policies and guidelines, each child at Jerilderie
Public School is viewed and treated as an individual with
individual talents.
Subjects that are covered are:
(i) Sound
foundations in the key learning areas. These six broad
areas are:
a.
English - Reading, Writing, Talking and Listening.
b. Mathematics.
c. Science and Technology.
d. Human Society and its Environment.
e. Creative and Practical Arts.
f. Health, Physical Education and Personal
Development.
(ii) An understanding
and acceptance of cultural diversity and equity. Such
support documents and curricula include:
a. Multicultural Education Policy.
b. Aboriginal Education Policy.
c. Gender Equity Education Policy.
(iii) The development of
critical awareness in regard to the impact of Technology on
Society. This direction incorporates:
a. Mass Media Education.
b. Computer Education.
(iv) A basic awareness of
acceptable standards of behaviour including the need to be
part of a society which has specific moral codes applicable
to all members of that society. Departmental policies in
this area include:
a. Student Welfare; Development of school policies and
programmes.
b.
Student Welfare; Development and maintaining effective
discipline.
c.
Personal Development Policy.
(v) Attention given to specific needs
groups within the community e.g. the talented child,
or those with learning difficulties.
SCHOOL PLANS AND AIMS
The school plans covers 5 broad management areas which
are listed below. Those areas, and the matching long
term goals are the basis of our 5 year “Strategic Plan”
. It is drawn up in line with Departmental Priorities
but includes local issues through consultation with parent
bodies, staff and children.

- To develop and implement a streamlined and
efficient administrative organisation.
5 Training and Development
- To ensure staff and community are aware of current
trends and developments in education and are supported
in developing and continuing career options.
